INSCRIBED ON THE BELIEVING\u00a0MIND<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/header>\n
\n

The Perfect Way is not difficult<\/span>
\nSave that it excludes picking and choosing<\/span>
\nOnce you are freed from hating and loving<\/span>
\nThat which is hidden will become clear and bright<\/span><\/p>\n

A hairbreadth of difference<\/span>
\nAnd heaven and earth are set apart<\/span>
\nIf you want it to appear before you<\/span>
\nDo not be for or against<\/span><\/p>\n

To set what you like against what you dislike<\/span>
\nThis is the disease of the mind<\/span><\/p>\n

Not knowing the deep meaning of the Way<\/span>
\nThe disciple labours to quiet his thoughts<\/span><\/p>\n

Perfect it is, like vast emptiness<\/span>
\nWith nothing wanting, nothing superfluous<\/span>
\nWhen you grasp this and reject that<\/span>
\nYou cannot see its suchness<\/span><\/p>\n

Neither pursue existence<\/span>
\nNor dwell in emptiness<\/span>
\nCarry oneness serenely in your breast<\/span>
\nAnd dualism will vanish by itself<\/span><\/p>\n

Stop motion, and you stop it over and over<\/span>
\nThe harder you try, the more the motion<\/span>
\nIf you are merely in one or the other<\/span>
\nHow will you know oneness?<\/span><\/p>\n

Not understanding oneness<\/span>
\nYou miss it in two ways<\/span>
\nPushing away existence, you are without existence<\/span>
\nPursuing emptiness, you never catch it<\/span><\/p>\n

Too many words, too much thinking<\/span>
\nDo not go round and round<\/span>
\nBanish words, banish thinking<\/span>
\nAnd there is no stage you cannot enter<\/span><\/p>\n

Return to the Source and gain what you seek<\/span>
\nPursue enlightenment and you lose it<\/span>
\nA flash of light<\/span>
\nAnd you are beyond emptiness and things<\/span><\/p>\n

The shifting and changing in emptiness that confronts you<\/span>
\nOnly seems real because of ignorance<\/span><\/p>\n

Do not seek the true<\/span>
\nOnly cease to cling to views<\/span><\/p>\n

Do not dwell in dual views<\/span>
\nBe careful not to pursue them<\/span><\/p>\n

The slightest trace of right and wrong<\/span>
\nAnd mind is lost in confusion<\/span>
\nThe two exist because of the One<\/span>
\nBut likewise do not cling to the One<\/span><\/p>\n

When the mind is one, nothing disturbs it<\/span>
\nThe myriad things are harmless<\/span>
\nNo harm, no things<\/span>
\nNo disturbance, no mind<\/span><\/p>\n

The subject vanishes with the object<\/span>
\nThe object gone, the subject submerges<\/span>
\nThe object exists because of the subject<\/span>
\nThe subject exists because of the object<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to understand the two sides<\/span>
\ntheir origin is the one emptiness<\/span>
\nIn the one emptiness both are the same<\/span>
\nUndifferentiated emptiness contains the myriad things<\/span><\/p>\n

Do not discriminate between coarse and refined<\/span>
\nAnd you will possess equanimity regarding for and against<\/span><\/p>\n

The Great Way is open to all<\/span>
\nNeither easy nor difficult<\/span>
\nBut those with a limited view are irresolute<\/span>
\nNow hurrying, now lagging behind<\/span><\/p>\n

Grasping for it excessively<\/span>
\nIs sure to lead you astray<\/span>
\nLetting go of it, it will certainly happen on its own<\/span>
\nSubstance never departs; it is abiding<\/span><\/p>\n

Be your natural self and you are in accord with the Way<\/span>
\nCalm and easy and untroubled<\/span>
\nWhen thoughts are in bondage they stray from the truth<\/span>
\nBecoming clouded and unsound<\/span>
\nWhen thoughts are unsound, the spirit is troubled<\/span>
\nWhat is the use of not-self and self?<\/span><\/p>\n

If you want to follow the One Way<\/span>
\nHave no aversion to the six sense-objects<\/span>
\nHaving no aversion to the six sense-objects<\/span>
\nIs equal to true awakening<\/span><\/p>\n

The sage does nothing<\/span>
\nWhile the ignorant bind themselves up<\/span><\/p>\n

Things are not separate and distinct<\/span>
\nYet ignorance leads to attachment<\/span>
\nTo use the mind to bind the mind<\/span>
\nIs this not the greatest mistake?<\/span><\/p>\n

Ignorance begets tranquility and turmoil<\/span>
\nWith enlightenment there is no good and evil<\/span>
\nDividing one thing into two sides<\/span>
\nIs an absurdity born of discrimination<\/span><\/p>\n

Dreams, illusions, flowers in the air<\/span>
\nWhy try to grasp them?<\/span>
\nGain and loss, right and wrong<\/span>
\nBanish them once and for all!<\/span><\/p>\n

If the eye never sleeps<\/span>
\nAll dreams cease by themselves<\/span><\/p>\n

If the mind does not discriminate<\/span>
\nThe myriad things are of one suchness<\/span>
\nIn the deep essence of one suchness<\/span>
\nIllusions are completely forgotten<\/span><\/p>\n

When the myriad things are seen in their oneness<\/span>
\nYou return to your true Self<\/span>
\nPutting an end to their cause<\/span>
\nNothing can be compared<\/span><\/p>\n

Stop motion and you have no motion<\/span>
\nBut motion stopped is not stillness<\/span>
\nIf the two are not united<\/span>
\nHow will you attain the One?<\/span><\/p>\n

Investigate until you are completely empty<\/span>
\nAnd no discipline remains to follow<\/span>
\nThe mind in accord is in perfect sameness<\/span>
\nWhere all effort ceases<\/span><\/p>\n

All doubts vanish completely<\/span>
\nThe true faith is straightened out<\/span>
\nNot a single division remains<\/span>
\nNo memories at all retained<\/span><\/p>\n

Empty, bright, shining<\/span>
\nNo exertion by the mind<\/span>
\nThis is a place no thought can measure<\/span>
\nKnowledge and senses can scarcely fathom<\/span><\/p>\n

In the higher realm of True Suchness<\/span>
\nThere is no other, no self<\/span>
\nSwiftly to merge with it<\/span>
\nSay only: Not two<\/span><\/p>\n

In non-duality all is the same<\/span>
\nThere is nothing that is not a part of it<\/span>
\nSages from the ten quarters<\/span>
\nEnter into this truth<\/span><\/p>\n

This truth is beyond time and space<\/span>
\nA single thought, ten thousand years<\/span>
\nNo existence, no nonexistence<\/span>
\nIt is everywhere before you<\/span><\/p>\n

The smallest is the same as the greatest<\/span>
\nDimension and boundaries entirely forgotten<\/span>
\nThe greatest is the same as the smallest<\/span>
\nNo borders seen manifest<\/span><\/p>\n

Existence is instantly nonexistence<\/span>
\nNonexistence is instantly existence<\/span>
\nIf you are not experiencing this<\/span>
\ndo not hold on to yourself<\/span><\/p>\n

The One in all<\/span>
\nAll in the One<\/span>
\nIf you only realize this<\/span>
\nYou need not worry about attaining your goal<\/span><\/p>\n

The believing mind is undivided<\/span>
\nUndivided is the believing mind<\/span>
\nWords go no further<\/span>
\nNo going or coming now<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
